Combat or tactical pants are built to withstand strain, abrasion, and rugged use—but with proper care, you can significantly extend their service life. Begin by checking the care label for recommended wash conditions. Typically, cold or lukewarm water (20–30 °C) on a gentle cycle is ideal. Always turn pants inside out before washing to protect color dyes and abrasion-resistant coatings (like ripstop or Teflon).

Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent and avoid bleach or fabric softeners, as they can degrade technical finishes and water-repellent coatings (DWR). Fasten all zippers and closures to prevent stress on seams and fabric. After washing, air dry in the shade; avoid tumble drying or direct UV exposure—both can weaken fibers and reduce elasticity.

For accelerated wear-periods, rotate multiple pairs—this allows fibers to relax and recover between uses. Inspect high-stress areas (knees, seat, belt loops) every few months. Small rips or seam separations should be repaired promptly—reinforced stitching or patch repair will prevent further tearing. When required, reapply DWR treatment to restore water resistance.

Proper care not only prolongs garment life but also maintains its technical performance—tear resistance, water repellency, and color durability.
